TERESA SCHILLER

"Of Counsel" Attorney
Teresa joined Lighthouse Legal Services “of counsel” after practicing law for more than 25 years. Teresa solves problems for her clients in the areas of business law, real estate, employment law, and estate planning and probate law.

Teresa believes that communicating effectively is an important part of her work. She has communicated with diverse groups in the course of helping them. For example, Teresa has represented clients in both Texas and New York City. While practicing in New York, she played a pivotal role coordinating volunteers to aid small businesses post-9/11. Teresa also helped serve the public while working for a federal appellate judge in Wilmington, Delaware, and a federal district judge in Chicago, Illinois. She helped lead the large and diverse New York State Bar Association as associate executive director. The daughter of two English teachers, Teresa taught English in public schools in Japan. She speaks and writes on legal topics for the public. Teresa holds degrees from University of Chicago Law School and Rice University.

Teresa has been elected to lead professional groups. She is a former chair of State Bar of Texas Women and the Law Section, former president-elect of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, and former president of the New York Women’s Bar Association (Manhattan).

A proud Texan, Teresa is glad to be home. She was born and raised in the Lone Star State, and is ready and able to help her fellow Texans however she can.
